Air fryer listings on Amazon.in tend to look alike: a basket size, a wattage, a list of presets and a promise in the title. The details that separate them are harder to find, such as the lowest temperature you can set, whether the warranty term is written down at all, and what that warranty leaves out.

We read 30 listings, shortlisted 26 basket air fryers and compared them on capacity, power draw, temperature range, presets and warranty terms. We also read Philips' NA231/00, NA352/00, HD9252/90 and NA130/00 pages and warranty policy, Faber's, Bosch's and American Micronic's pages for the models discussed below, and SOLARA's warranty policy. Nobody here has cooked with these machines, so this is a reading of specifications. Three listings sold as air fryer ovens, from Milton, SOLARA and Lifelong, were each cut before the shortlist for a different reason, so that kind of machine isn't compared here. Philips' NA352/00 also has "Air Fryer Oven" in its title, but its listing describes two baskets.

Our pick for most homes is the Philips NA231/00, a 6.2-litre basket with a viewing window, 13 presets and a 2-year warranty on its listing. If you want two dishes ready at the same time, the Philips NA352/00 splits 9 litres across two baskets. For a smaller household or a crowded counter, the 4-litre Faber FAF CrispX 4.0 lists 10 presets and a 2-year warranty from Faber.

Why it's on the list

  • 13 preset menus
  • Viewing window on a 6.2 L basket
  • 2-year warranty on the listing

Worth knowing

  • The listing marks it as not dishwasher safe, while the listings for Philips' NA120/00 and NA130/09 say theirs are. Philips' page for the NA231/00 doesn't say either way, so expect to wash the basket by hand.
  • Philips' page for the NA231/00 has no specification table. The 1700W, the 60 to 200°C range and the weight come from the Amazon.in listing alone.
  • It is 40.4 x 30.9 x 30.8 cm on the listing, so measure the counter if space is tight. The Faber below is 26 x 26 cm across the base on its listing, but Faber's own page gives 26 x 34.6 cm.

Skip it if you need two dishes cooking at once, or want something smaller than a 6.2-litre basket on the counter.

The reasoning

This is a single-basket machine with a touch panel and a cooking window, so you can keep an eye on the food while it cooks. The listing gives it 6.2 litres, 1700W and a temperature range of 60 to 200°C, with preset menus for 13 ways of cooking, and the listing says you can adjust time and temperature for reheating, defrosting and dehydrating. Philips' own page for the NA231/00 repeats the 13 presets and the viewing window.

What decided it was having both. Seven other shortlisted listings mention a window: the Bosch MAF671B5IN, the two Nutricook models, the KENT 116178-N, SOLARA's 4.5-litre model, Havells' Prolife Brio and the Cookwell. None of them lists more than 10 presets. The listings that come nearest to 13 are the NUUK BRĪSK (12 in its title, 8 presets plus 4 add-on functions in its bullets) and Philips' own NA120/00 and NA130/09, at 12 each, and none of those three mentions a window.

The Bosch MAF671B5IN was the closest call. It has a bigger 7.2-litre basket, an illuminated window, a 40°C lowest setting and a 2-year warranty on its listing. We still chose the Philips because it weighs 4 kg 200 g on its listing against the Bosch's 6 kg 900 g (6.7 kg net on Bosch's page), and lists 13 presets to the Bosch's 7. Bosch's page says its basket takes up to 5 portions, and unlike the Philips, its listing and Bosch's page say it is dishwasher safe; if those matter, the Bosch is worth the extra bulk.

The listing's warranty field reads "2 year Warranty", and Philips' warranty policy describes a 2-year standard warranty. That policy doesn't cover physical damage, damage from abnormal voltage, transport or water (unless the manual says a part may be rinsed), repairs by unauthorised people, or commercial use.

Philips Dual Basket Air Fryer NA352/00 (3000 Series, 9 L)

PHILIPS · Pick 2 of 3

Two baskets totalling 9 litres, with settings that run them together, for a household that wants the main dish and a side ready at the same time.

Weight
7 kg 900 gAmazon.in listing

Worth knowing

  • The warranty term comes from Philips' page only; the listing doesn't state one.
  • The listing and Philips' page disagree on power (1400 Watts against 2750 Watt) and on the lowest temperature (60°C against 40°C).
  • The listing marks it as not dishwasher safe, and the Philips page we read doesn't say either way.

Skip it if your counter can't take a machine up to 49 cm deep (the listing's figure; Philips' page gives 314 x 382 x 444 mm), or you rarely cook more than one thing at a time.

The reasoning

Of the 26 shortlisted listings, this is the one dual-basket machine. The listing describes a Time function that coordinates the two cooking times so different foods finish together, and a Copy function that sets the same time and temperature for both baskets in one go. It also says one basket can take a full oven tray.

Philips' page and the listing agree on 9 litres and 8 preset menus. They disagree on two figures. The listing gives 1400 Watts and a 60°C lowest setting; Philips' page gives 2750 Watt and 40-200°C. We can't tell from what we read which is right, so check the power figure in the manual before deciding which socket it goes on.

The listing states no warranty term. Philips' page gives a 2-year warranty, and the same Philips policy applies as for the NA231/00, with the same exclusions for physical damage, abnormal voltage, transport and water damage. It is also big: 49 x 39 x 37 cm and 7 kg 900 g on the listing, while Philips' page gives 314 x 382 x 444 mm and 7.85 kg, so measure before you buy.

If you want a smaller one

Faber FAF CrispX 4.0 Digital Air Fryer (4 L)

Faber · Pick 3 of 3

Worth knowing

  • The listing gives 1350 Watts and Faber's page gives 1500w for the same 4-litre model.
  • Neither the listing nor Faber's page gives a lowest temperature setting.
  • Faber's page lists an inner light, but neither the page nor the listing mentions a window to see it through.

Skip it if you want to watch the food through a window, or need a bigger basket for a family.

The reasoning

At 26 x 26 cm across the base on its listing (Faber's own page gives 26 x 34.6 cm), the CrispX takes less counter than the 6.2-litre Philips either way. It has a touch panel, 10 presets and a top temperature of 200°C, and the listing adds a cool-touch handle, overheat protection and auto shut-off, and marks it as dishwasher safe.

The warranty appears in both places. The listing title says 2 years comprehensive and a bullet says the 2 years come from Faber; Faber's own page lists a 2-year warranty and itemises the box: the air fryer, a user manual, a warranty card and a bake plate tray. Faber's general warranty terms add conditions the listing doesn't mention: the warranty covers manufacturing defects only, and standard visit charges apply after the first year.

Two 4.5-litre rivals beat it on some points. SOLARA's model has a window and the same 10 presets, but its listing points to SOLARA's policy, which gives 1 year from delivery and only if you register within 7 days. The Nutricook Essential (AFE150IN) has a window with a light, a stated 75°C minimum and a 2-year limited warranty, but lists 6 programs. We chose the Faber for its presets and its 2-year term together. Its listing gives a 26 x 26 cm base, a smaller area than either rival's listing (24.5 x 30 cm for the SOLARA, 27.6 x 29.7 cm for the Nutricook), but Faber's own page gives 26 x 34.6 cm, which would make it the deepest of the three.

What we ruled out

  • Bosch CrispMaxx MAF671B5IN (7.2 L)The closest call for the top spot: 7.2 litres, 1800W, an illuminated window, 40-200 °C on Bosch's page and a 2-year warranty on the listing. It weighs 6 kg 900 g on the listing (Bosch's page gives 6.7 kg net) against the Philips NA231/00's 4 kg 200 g, and lists 7 presets (Bosch's page says seven in its highlights but lists 8 programmes in its specifications) against 13. Bosch's page also gives the supply cord as 20 cm, so check where your socket is.
  • Philips HD9252/90 (4.1 L)A touch-panel model on its listing (Philips' page lists timer and temperature knobs in its button guide but a touch panel in its highlights) with 7 presets, keep warm, auto shut-off when the basket is removed and a "2 Year World Wide Warranty" on the listing, which also mentions "additional 1 Yr Warranty by Philips" without saying how it applies. It lost to the Faber on presets (7 against 10) and footprint, at 33.8 x 33.8 cm on its listing. The listing's 5 kg 520 g is close to Philips' boxed weight of 5.518 kg; Philips gives the machine itself as 4.538 kg. Philips' page also disagrees with the listing on power (1500 Watt against 1400 Watts) and cord length (0.8 m against 1.8 m), and gives the temperature as both 60 to 200°C and 80-200°C.
  • American Micronic AMI-AFD-65LDx (6.5 L)Its listing promises 2 years on the whole product and 5 years on the heating element and fan motor. American Micronic's own page gives the warranty as 2 years and doesn't mention the 5-year cover, and it says 8 preset menus where the listing says 10. Neither mentions a window.
  • SOLARA Air Fryer 4.5L with See Through WindowA window, 10 presets and 1500 Watts, but the listing gives its temperatures in Fahrenheit and states no warranty term, pointing to SOLARA's policy instead. That policy gives 1 year from delivery, valid only if you register within 7 days, and its second-year extension covers only the Air Fryer Oven and Cold Press Juicer, and never marketplace purchases such as Amazon.
  • Philips NA130/09 (6.2 L)The same 6.2 litres and 1700W as our pick, with 12 presets and touch control in its listing's spec fields. Philips' page for the NA130/00 calls it analog with timer and temperature knobs, which doesn't match the listing. The listing mentions no window and states no warranty term (Philips' NA130/00 page gives 2 years).
  • Havells Prolife Brio GHCAFSTB135 (4.2 L)It has a window and a 2-year doorstep warranty in its title, and an 80 to 200°C range in its spec fields, but it uses push buttons and the parts of the listing we could read name no presets. We couldn't load Havells' product page to check further.

Before you buy

  1. Match the basket to your household

Shortlisted baskets run from 3.5 litres (the INALSA NutriFry and Amazon Basics models) to 9 litres across the Philips NA352/00's two baskets. Bosch's page says its 7.2-litre basket takes up to 5 portions, and American Micronic's page says its 6.5-litre model serves 5-6 persons. Use those as rough guides when choosing a size.

  2. Read the warranty conditions, not just the term

Terms differ more than titles suggest. SOLARA needs registration within 7 days of delivery, Faber's general terms add visit charges after the first year, NUUK's listing gives "1 +1 Year", Instant Pot's listing gives 1 year and asks you to register, and Greenchef's says to call customer care and then take the machine to a service centre. Philips' NA120/00, NA130/09 and NA352/00 listings give no term at all, nor do the Cookwell, AGARO and INALSA listings.

  3. Check the lowest temperature

Where a listing gives a top temperature in Celsius, it is 200°C on all but the Lifelong LLHFD442, which says 180°C. The lowest setting varies more: 40°C on the Bosch and Nutricook Slim XL listings, 60°C on four Philips listings (NA231/00, NA352/00, HD9252/90 and HD9200/90, though the HD9200/90's own bullet says 80°C), 75°C on the Nutricook Essential, and 80°C in the minimum-temperature field of ten others, including Philips' NA120/00 and NA130/09 (the KENT 116203 gives 80°C in a bullet). SOLARA and Instant Pot give theirs in Fahrenheit.

  4. Plug it straight into the wall

SOLARA's policy voids its warranty if the air fryer is run through an extension board or multi-plug, from a socket rated below its requirement, or with the lead coiled; Philips' excludes damage from abnormal voltage. Shortlisted listings give power draws from 1200 to 1800 watts, so give the air fryer a wall socket of its own.
