The short answer

Philips HL7756/00 Mixer Grinder, 750 W, 3 jars

A 750 W, three-jar mixer grinder whose listing states a 5-year motor warranty, for grinding masala, chutney and dal.

  • 5-year motor warranty on the listing
  • 1.5 L, 1 L and 0.3 L steel jars
  • 3 speeds plus pulse

  2. If you want a coarse setting and jar detectionAtomberg Zenova Mixer Grinder (BLDC motor, 4 jars)

A BLDC-motor mixer that draws 550 W, adds a coarse mode and a chopper jar, and that Atomberg says won't run unless the jar is properly placed, for people who want those more than a 5-year motor term.

Mixer grinder listings on Amazon.in lead with wattage, but wattage only tells you how much power the motor draws. What you need to know is which jars you get, in what sizes, and how long the motor itself is covered, and many listings either split the warranty into product and motor terms or give one number without saying what it covers.

We read 30 listings and kept 29. The 30th, a four-jar Longway Super Dlx, was cut automatically because its model field matched a Longway mixer sold with a dry iron, even though the two titles give different wattages. From the 29 we set aside the bullet-style blenders and that combo pack, and compared the rest on power draw, jar sizes, speed controls and warranty terms. For the Havells Prisma, Prestige Iris, Bosch TrueMixx Pro and Atomberg Zenova we also read the brand's own product page. Nobody here has used these machines; this is a reading of listings and spec sheets.

Our pick is the Philips HL7756/00, a 750 W machine with three steel jars whose listing puts the motor warranty at 5 years. If you also want a juicer jar, the Prestige Iris adds one and covers the motor for 2 years on its listing (one section of Prestige's own page says 1 year). If you want a coarse grinding setting and a machine that Atomberg says won't run unless the jar is properly placed, the Atomberg Zenova is a different kind of mixer with a BLDC motor that draws 550 W.

Why it's on the list

  • 5-year motor warranty on the listing
  • 1.5 L, 1 L and 0.3 L steel jars
  • 3 speeds plus pulse

Worth knowing

  • We have no Philips page for the HL7756/00. A search of Philips's India shop for HL7756 returned spare wet, dry and chutney jar assemblies and couplers for the HL7756, but no product page, so every figure here comes from the Amazon.in listing.
  • The listing says a burning smell in the first few uses is normal, from the varnish coating on the motor, and that the motor may make some noise. If the smell or noise seems abnormal, it asks you to contact customer care. It also asks you to let the motor cool between uses.
  • The listing's Warranty Description field reads "2 years on product"; the 5-year motor term appears only in a bullet. The listing doesn't say whether that term needs registration or an invoice and lists no exclusions, so keep the invoice and confirm the motor term with Philips customer care. Its dishwasher-safe field reads No.

Skip it if you want a juicer jar, or a chutney jar bigger than 0.3 L.

The reasoning

The other fully specified 750 W three-jar machine, the Havells Prisma, looks much the same on paper: a wet jar, a dry jar, a chutney jar, three speeds and a pulse. Where the Philips differs is that its warranty terms are written into its Amazon.in listing: 2 years on the product and, in a bullet, 5 years on the motor. No other 750 W listing on the shortlist states a 5-year motor term. The Prestige Iris and Astra and both Butterfly listings give the motor 2 years, and the GrowSmart HydroGrind gives 4 years without saying whether that covers the motor.

The listing gives every jar size: a 1.5 L wet jar, a 1 L multipurpose jar and a 0.3 L chutney jar, all stainless steel. It says the 1 L dry jar's lid locks on without a separate rubber gasket, while the wet and chutney jars do have one. It also says the motor can run for 25 minutes continuously, though that figure carries an asterisk the listing doesn't explain, and elsewhere it asks you to let the motor cool between uses. It weighs 3 kg, by the listing.

The Havells Prisma (GHFMGGHK075) came closest. It also draws 750 W, has three speeds with pulse, and has 1.5 L and 1 L jars with a bigger 400 ml chutney jar. Havells's own page gives it 2 years on the product and 5 years on the motor, both marked with an asterisk. We went with the Philips because a 5-year motor term appears on the Amazon.in listing itself, though only in a bullet, while the Havells listing mentions only a 2-year product warranty; Havells's own page states the motor term more fully than its listing does, so if you buy the Havells, keep the invoice and hold Havells to its page. If a larger chutney jar matters to you, the Havells is a fair alternative. The USHA Rapidmix also lists 2 years on the product and 5 on the motor, but it draws 500 W and its listing doesn't give the jar sizes.

If you also want a juicer jar

Prestige Iris 750 W Mixer Grinder, 4 jars

Worth knowing

  • Prestige's page says 2 years on product and motor in one place and "1 Year Warranty" in another. Confirm the term with Prestige (customercare@ttkprestige.com, given on the page) before you rely on the second year.
  • The listing's dimensions field reads 2D x 50W x 29H cm. Prestige's page gives the product as 24 x 19.5 x 23.5 cm and the package as 50 x 26.5 x 28.5 cm, so the listing seems to mix the two.
  • Prestige's care notes say the blades are sharp and need care while cleaning, and that a jar can warm up from friction during dry grinding. The listing says a mild burning smell at first use comes from the motor varnish and should stop; if it continues, contact the brand service centre.

Skip it if you don't need a juicer jar, or you want a stated continuous-run time longer than 5 minutes; Prestige's page sets that limit.

The reasoning

This adds a 1.5 L juicer jar to the usual three: a 1.5 L wet jar, a 1 L dry jar and a 300 ml chutney jar. The listing describes a 3-speed rotary control with a pulse mode and an overload protector that cuts power when the motor overheats. It gives 2 years of warranty on the product and the motor, and says it is ISI certified.

Prestige's own page for it, under the same number (42510: the listing's part number, the page's SKU), repeats the four jar sizes, the 750 W figure and the 2 years on product and motor in its description. In a separate section headed Warranty Instructions, though, the same page reads "1 Year Warranty". The page's care notes say not to run it for more than 5 minutes continuously and to leave a 2-minute gap before running it again.

Two others came close. Bosch's TrueMixx Pro (MGM8642BIN) has the same four-jar layout, with a 1.5 L plastic blender jar and fruit filter and a 400 ml chutney jar, and Bosch's page confirms the jars, but its listing gives 2 years on the product and says nothing about the motor, and the Bosch page we read gives no warranty term. Butterfly's Jet Elite has three steel jars (0.4 L, 0.75 L and 1.5 L), a 1.5 L juicer jar and a fifth, grind-and-store jar, and lists 2 years on the product and 2 on the motor, but we have no brand page for Butterfly, while the Iris's own page has a wrinkle of its own: one section of it says 1 year. Prestige's own Astra lists the same jars plus a Mix-O-Keep storage jar and the same warranty, weighing 6 kg 500 g against the Iris's 5 kg 500 g; we didn't check the Astra against Prestige's page.

If you want a coarse setting and jar detection

Atomberg Zenova Mixer Grinder (BLDC motor, 4 jars)

atomberg · Pick 3 of 3

A BLDC-motor mixer that draws 550 W, adds a coarse mode and a chopper jar, and that Atomberg says won't run unless the jar is properly placed, for people who want those more than a 5-year motor term.

Worth knowing

  • The third year needs registration on Atomberg's website. Neither the listing nor Atomberg's page we read gives a deadline for registering, so do it soon after delivery.
  • After an overload cut-out, Atomberg's page says to turn the knob back to 0 before grinding again.
  • The listing's container-material field reads Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, and neither the listing's bullets nor Atomberg's page we read says what the jars are made of.

Skip it if the motor warranty matters most to you, or you want a lighter machine to lift in and out of a cupboard.

The reasoning

This one works differently. It uses a BLDC motor and draws 550 W. The title says it grinds like a 1000 W machine, which is Atomberg's claim; wattage tells you power drawn, not how well a machine grinds, so we compared it on what it does.

It is the only listing on the shortlist with a coarse mode (Bosch's two listings instead offer a blunt pounding blade for dry ingredients, a blade rather than a speed setting), which Atomberg's page says runs at 5000 RPM for a texture like a sil-batta. The page lists four jars: 1.5 L liquidising, 1 L multipurpose, 500 ml chutney and spice, and a 500 ml chopper jar, which it says the base detects and runs at 2000 RPM. It runs only when the jar is properly placed (a beep and blue LED confirm it), shows a red LED for overload and overheating, and, by the listing, doesn't restart by itself after a power cut. Atomberg says its lid locks allow hands-free operation; Bosch's two listings also say their lid-locks allow hands-free operation.

Atomberg's page writes it as "2+1* Year Warranty", asterisk included: 2 years as standard and a third year if you register the purchase on Atomberg's website, and its FAQ says the 3 years covers the product as well as the motor. Once registered, that is one more year on the product than the Philips and two fewer on the motor; without registering, it is level on the product and three years short on the motor. It is also heavier, at 6 kg on the listing against the Philips's 3 kg.

Cut 1: 1 × duplicate listing of a shortlisted model

  • Cut 1 listing as a repeat of a model already on the shortlist: a four-jar Longway Super Dlx whose model field matches a Longway Super Dlx sold with a dry iron. Their titles give different wattages, so the cut may have removed a different machine.
  • Set aside the bullet-style blenders and the mixer-and-iron combo, then compared the rest on power draw, jar count and sizes, speed controls, and how each warranty splits between the product and the motor.
  • Checked the Havells Prisma, Prestige Iris, Bosch TrueMixx Pro and Atomberg Zenova against their brands' own product pages. A search of Philips's India shop for the HL7756 returned spare parts but no product page, and usha.com sent us to a bot check instead of a page.
  • Wattage is the power a motor draws. A higher figure doesn't mean better grinding, so we didn't rank on it.

What we ruled out

  • Havells Prisma 750 W, 3 jars (GHFMGGHK075)A close call. Havells's page gives it 1.5 L and 1 L jars, a 400 ml chutney jar, 3 speeds with pulse, and 2 years on the product with 5 on the motor, both marked with an asterisk. The Amazon.in listing's title mentions only a 2-year product warranty and its details table has no warranty line, so the motor term is on Havells's page, not the listing. The Philips's 5-year term likewise has a single source, a bullet in its listing; we chose the Philips because that term is on the page you buy from, not because its warranty is longer.
  • USHA Rapidmix 500 W, 3 jarsIts listing states 2 years on the product and 5 on the motor, the same split as the Philips, but it draws 500 W and its bullets read only "Usha", "White" and "3 jars". The listing gives a single capacity of 1.2 litres and no individual jar sizes, and usha.com sent us to a bot check rather than a product page.
  • Bosch TrueMixx Pro 750 W, 4 jars (MGM8642BIN)Bosch's page confirms 750 W, a 24000 rpm maximum and four jars including a plastic blender jar with fruit filter. The listing gives 2 years on the product and says nothing about the motor, and the Bosch page we read gives no warranty term. The Prestige Iris covers its motor for 2 years on the listing.
  • Sujata Supermix 900 W, 3 jarsThe listing gives 1750 ml, 1000 ml and 500 ml jars and says it can run for up to 90 minutes, but it states no warranty term; it mentions only a warranty card in the box.
  • GrowSmart HydroGrind 750 W, 3 jarsIts title gives 4 years of warranty, but the listing doesn't say whether that covers the motor, and it describes its three steel jars only as being of varying sizes, with one capacity figure of 1.5 litres.
  • Butterfly Jet Elite 750 W, 5 jarsIt lists 2 years on the product and 2 on the motor, steel jars of 0.4 L, 0.75 L and 1.5 L, a 1.5 L juicer jar and a grind-and-store jar. The motor term is shorter than the Philips's 5 years, and for a juicer jar the Prestige Iris lists the same 2-year terms with jar sizes confirmed on Prestige's own page.

Before you buy

  1. Watts are power draw

The shortlist runs from 500 W to 1000 W, and Atomberg's 550 W BLDC machine claims to grind like a 1000 W one. Wattage tells you what the motor draws from the socket. Compare jar sizes and warranty terms rather than assuming the bigger number grinds better.

  2. Read the motor warranty separately

The Philips HL7756 and USHA Rapidmix listings give 5 years on the motor, the Prestige Iris, Astra and Apex, both Butterfly listings and the Maharaja Whiteline Smart 123 2 years, and the Bajaj Rex 500W listing 1. Many others give one number without saying whether the motor is included. Longway gives 1 year as standard and a second year only if you register within 15 days of delivery, and Atomberg's third year needs registration too.

  3. Match the chutney jar to how you cook

The Philips and Prestige Iris chutney jars hold 0.3 L, the Havells and Bosch ones 400 ml, and the Atomberg and Sujata ones 500 ml. If you grind small amounts of coconut chutney or ginger-garlic paste every day, that small jar matters more than the wattage.

  4. Give the motor breaks

Prestige's page says no more than 5 minutes at a stretch with a 2-minute gap, and Bosch's listings give 5 minutes on and 2 off, for at most 6 cycles. Several listings, including Philips, Bajaj, Prestige and Butterfly, say a burning smell on first use comes from motor varnish and should stop.
