The short answer

Best for most people

American Tourister Splash 55 cm Cabin Trolley (LG1 (0) 22 001)

A hard-sided 55 cm case on 4 spinner wheels that lists 2 kg, the lightest upright case we picked, for anyone who wants an upright case that leaves as much of a 7 kg limit as possible; its listed size is 1 cm over the 115 cm total on IndiGo's and Air India's pages.

  • 2 kg listed, the lightest upright pick
  • 3-year warranty on listing and brand page
  • 37 x 24 x 55 cm on 4 spinner wheels

The 3 alternatives, for other needs

  1. If you want 8 wheelsKamiliant by American Tourister Savvy 55 cm Cabin Trolley (SP7 (0) 11 001)

A polypropylene hard case on 8 spinner wheels that lists 2 kg 150 g and a 3-year warranty, for anyone who wants 8 wheels without much extra weight.

  2. If you want a slimmer caseAmerican Tourister Liftoff+ 55 cm Cabin Trolley (ME5 (4) 11 901)

A polypropylene hard case that lists 40 x 20 x 55 cm, 8 spinner wheels and a mounted TSA lock at 2 kg 200 g, for anyone who wants a narrower bag than the Splash or Savvy.

  3. If weight matters more than wheelsSafari Sprinter 55cm Duffle Trolley (SPRINTER55RLGRE)

A soft polyester duffle on 2 in-line wheels that lists 1 kg 500 g, for travellers who want as much of a 7 kg limit as possible left for what they pack.

    Check price on Amazon.in

IndiGo's page allows one handbag up to 7 kgs, and Air India's gives a 7 kg maximum weight for economy cabin baggage. On the cabin trolleys we shortlisted, listed weights run from 1 kg 500 g to 3 kg 800 g (one more listing's weight field reads 3 g), so the bag you choose can take a large share of that figure before you pack anything.

We read 30 Amazon.in listings and compared 26. We ranked the upright cases on the weight each one lists first, then on size, wheels, shell and warranty, and kept the one lighter duffle trolley as a separate choice. We checked the pick against American Tourister's product page for the Splash Cabin in another colour, read the warranty terms American Tourister, Kamiliant and Safari publish, and read IndiGo's and Air India's own baggage pages on 4 November 2026. Nobody here has handled these bags, so this is a reading of listings and published pages, and we say where those run out.

Our pick is the American Tourister Splash 55 cm, which lists 2 kg, and American Tourister's page for the Splash Cabin gives the same figure. It rolls on 4 wheels, its listing and the brand page disagree on the shell material, and its listed 37 x 24 x 55 cm add up to 116 cm, 1 cm over the 115 cm total on IndiGo's and Air India's pages. If you want 8 wheels, the Kamiliant Savvy lists 2 kg 150 g and a 3-year warranty; the Kamiliant Rock-Lite lists less, 2 kg 30 g, but states no warranty term. If you want a slimmer case, the American Tourister Liftoff+ lists 40 x 20 x 55 cm at 2 kg 200 g. And if weight matters more than how the bag rolls, Safari's Sprinter duffle trolley lists 1 kg 500 g on 2 wheels.

Why it's on the list

  • 2 kg listed, the lightest upright pick
  • 3-year warranty on listing and brand page
  • 37 x 24 x 55 cm on 4 spinner wheels

Worth knowing

  • If the material matters to you, ask the seller which shell this colour has, since the listing says polycarbonate and the brand page says polypropylene.
  • The listing's bullets mention extra packing space for last-minute shopping but don't say how it is made, and neither the listing nor the brand page mentions an expander.

Skip it if you want 8 wheels, or a litre figure you can rely on before you buy.

The reasoning

The Splash's details table gives 2 kg, and American Tourister's page for the Splash Cabin gives the same, 2 Kg. Among the upright cases on the shortlist, the Kamiliant Rock-Lite comes next at 2 kg 30 g, then the Kamiliant Savvy at 2 kg 150 g and the American Tourister Liftoff+ at 2 kg 200 g. Every other upright case lists 2 kg 400 g or more, apart from the Aristocrat Liberty, whose weight field reads 3 g. It is also the one pick with a brand page, though that page is for another colour and names a different shell material: the listing gives 37 x 24 x 55 cm and a 3-year international warranty, and the brand page gives 37.2 x 55.1 x 24 cm and a 3 Year Global Warranty.

The two disagree on the shell. The listing's title and material field say polycarbonate, while American Tourister's page says polypropylene in its spec list and again in its description. That page shows the Splash Cabin in Voilet/Green (SKU LG1 (0) 42 001); the listing is the Coral/Teal LG1 (0) 22 001. The listing's bullets call the lock a recessed 3-digit TSA lock, while the brand page describes a fixed 3 digit combination lock, and its specs and description don't mention TSA.

Don't rely on the capacity figure. The listing gives 50 litres in its bullets and capacity field, but its storage volume field reads 1 Centiliters, and 50 litres is more than a box of 37 x 24 x 55 cm holds. American Tourister's page gives no capacity at all.

On paper, the listing's three dimensions add up to 116 cm. IndiGo's page sets its hand-bag limit at 7 kgs and 115 cms (L+W+H), and Air India's lists height 55 cm, length 40 cm, width 20 cm and a 115 cm total. The Splash's listing says it meets most domestic carry-on size requirements without naming an airline, so compare those figures with your own booking. Its 24 cm side is also wider than the 20 cm width on Air India's page.

Amazon.in listing and Kamiliant website

Why it's on the list

  • 2 kg 150 g on 8 spinner wheels
  • 3-year international warranty stated
  • 33 litres in two fields that agree

Worth knowing

  • Kamiliant's home page lists no products, so every spec here, the warranty term included, rests on the Amazon.in listing. Its warranty terms are word for word American Tourister's; see the warranty block.
  • The listing doesn't mention a TSA lock; the lock it describes is a 3-digit fixed combination lock.
  • Its listed dimensions add up to 115.5 cm and its 25 cm side is wider than the 20 cm width on Air India's page, so measure it against your airline's limit.

Skip it if you want a TSA lock.

The reasoning

The Savvy lists 2 kg 150 g, which is 150 g more than the Splash, and it rolls on 8 spinner wheels where the Splash lists 4. Its listing is consistent on the details that matter here: polypropylene in the title and the material field, 33 litres in both the capacity and storage volume fields, and 3 Years International Warranty in the warranty field.

The Kamiliant Rock-Lite is lighter at 2 kg 30 g, also on 8 wheels, but its listing states no brand warranty term, so the Savvy is the 8-wheel pick. The Liftoff+ adds a TSA lock and a slimmer 20 cm side for 50 g more.

The listing gives 35.5 x 25 x 55 cm, which adds up to 115.5 cm, against the 115 cm total on IndiGo's and Air India's pages. It describes a 3-digit fixed combination lock, top and side handles, cross-ribbons in the main compartment and a U-shaped pocket.

If you want a slimmer case

American Tourister · Pick 3 of 4

Why it's on the list

  • 40 x 20 x 55 cm, 20 cm wide
  • Mounted TSA lock on 8 spinner wheels
  • 2 kg 200 g, 34 litres in two fields

Worth knowing

  • American Tourister's store search shows no Liftoff+, so every spec here, the warranty term included, rests on the Amazon.in listing.

Skip it if every gram counts more to you than the slimmer outline and the TSA lock.

The reasoning

The Liftoff+ lists 40 x 20 x 55 cm, where the Splash and the Savvy list 24 cm and 25 cm on that side. Its three listed sides add up to 115 cm, the same as the total on IndiGo's and Air India's pages, so on paper there is no margin. These are the listing's figures, not a measurement, and the listing names no airline, and American Tourister's store search shows no page for this bag to check, so measure the bag and check the limit on your own booking.

It weighs 2 kg 200 g on the listing, 200 g more than the Splash and 50 g more than the Savvy. For that it states a mounted TSA-approved lock, 8 spinner wheels, 34 litres in both the capacity and storage volume fields, and a fully lined interior with tie-down straps and a zippered divider.

  • Main exclusions: misuse, accidents, rain/water, wear and tear on parts such as wheels, zippers and fabric, mishandling and abuse in transit; also zip bursts, cracks and dents.
  • Decides: Safari decides whether the problem is covered, and repairs or replaces at its discretion; the policy says the warranty is not unconditional.

Amazon.in listing and Safari warranty policy

Why it's on the list

  • 1 kg 500 g, a duffle on 2 in-line wheels
  • 43 litres in a 55 x 29 x 30 cm bag
  • 5-year international warranty stated

Worth knowing

  • Safari's store search doesn't show the Sprinter, so every spec here, the warranty term included, rests on the Amazon.in listing.
  • Its 29 cm and 30 cm sides are both wider than the 20 cm width on Air India's page, even though the three sides add up to less than 115 cm.

Skip it if you'd rather roll an upright case on four or eight wheels, or want a hard shell.

The reasoning

This is a different kind of bag: a polyester duffle with a top opening, a telescopic handle and 2 in-line skate wheels. It lists 1 kg 500 g, 500 g less than the Splash, and 43 litres in both its capacity and storage volume fields.

Where all three other picks list spinner wheels, this one lists in-line skate wheels. Its listing gives 55 x 29 x 30 cm, which adds up to 114 cm, and its bullets say it meets airline approved carry-on dimensions without naming an airline; see the width note below.

The bullets, the warranty field and the title all give 5 years, where the other three picks' listings give 3 years. What Safari's policy covers, leaves out and asks for is in the warranty block below, set out the same way as for the other picks.

What we ruled out

  • Kamiliant by American Tourister Rock-Lite 55 cm (LI7 (4) 21 601)The closest call. At 2 kg 30 g on 8 wheels it is lighter than the Savvy, with 35 litres in two fields. But its listing states no brand warranty term, and its 37 x 25 x 55 cm add up to 117 cm, 1 cm more than the Splash's.
  • Safari Genius Theo 55cm (THEO554WSEG)Its 36 x 24 x 55 cm add up to 115 cm, though, like the Splash's, its 24 cm side is wider than the 20 cm width on Air India's page. It lists 43 litres, 8 wheels and a 3-year warranty. But it lists 2 kg 500 g, half a kilo more than the Splash.
  • Aristocrat Airpro and Airpro Max Cabin (AIRPRO55PSB, AIRMXS55MJT)Both list 2 kg 500 g, 30 litres and 38 x 22 x 55.5 cm on 8 wheels with a 3-year warranty. That is 500 g more than the Splash, and 30 litres is less than any of the picks lists.
  • Aristocrat Liberty Cabin (LIBERS58SPB)Its weight field reads 3 g, which looks like an entry error, and the listing gives no other weight figure. It also stands 58 cm tall.
  • SWISS MILITARY Sirius Overnighter 45cm (LTB13)A smaller 45 cm case at 38 x 13 x 45 cm with a 15.4” laptop compartment and a 60-month warranty. But it lists 2 kg 500 g, more than any of the upright picks.
  • Skybags Rubik Soft Case Cabin (STRUW58EBLU)Its features field lists a TSA lock and says it is expandable, but at 3 kg 800 g it is the heaviest bag on the shortlist, and it stands 58 cm tall.

Before you buy

  1. Add up the three sides

IndiGo's page gives 115 cms (L+W+H) for a hand bag, and Air India's gives 115 cm in total plus height 55 cm, length 40 cm and width 20 cm. The listed dimensions of the picks add up to 116 cm for the Splash, 115.5 cm for the Savvy, 115 cm for the Liftoff+ and 114 cm for the Sprinter. These are the listings' own figures, not measurements, and IndiGo's page says it reserves the right to refuse baggage, due to excessive size or otherwise, if it deems it a safety risk, so measure the bag when it arrives and compare it with the limit on your booking.

  2. Bag weights beside the 7 kg limit

IndiGo's page gives 7 kgs for one hand bag, and Air India's gives 7 kg for economy and premium economy. IndiGo also allows a personal article, such as a ladies' purse or a small bag containing a laptop, up to 3 kgs, and Air India one personal item of a listed type up to 3 kg, provided it fits under the seat in front of you. Listed bag weights on the shortlist run from 1 kg 500 g for the Sprinter duffle to 3 kg 800 g for the Skybags Rubik, leaving aside the Aristocrat Liberty, whose weight field reads 3 g.

  3. Airlines change their limits

We read IndiGo's and Air India's pages on 4 November 2026. Air India's page gives 10 kg for business and first class, so its 7 kg figure is for economy and premium economy. Either airline can change these, so check the allowance on your own booking before you pack.

  4. Read the warranty conditions, not just the years

Each pick's warranty block sets out the same six things: term, cover, main exclusions, who decides a claim, who pays shipping and the documents needed. All three brands' terms cover defects rather than damage, exclude damage in transit, leave the decision on a claim to the brand or its service centre, and leave you to pay to get the bag to them. Kamiliant's terms are word for word American Tourister's, and both say their locks are meant only to prevent accidental opening and can't necessarily prevent theft, whatever a listing says about security; Safari's policy doesn't mention theft.

Questions buyers ask

What are IndiGo's and Air India's cabin bag limits?

IndiGo's baggage page allows one handbag up to 7 kgs and 115 cms (L+W+H), plus a personal article up to 3 kgs. Air India's page gives 7 kg for economy and premium economy, with height 55 cm, length 40 cm, width 20 cm and a 115 cm total, plus one personal item up to 3 kg, provided it fits under the seat in front of you. We read both on 4 November 2026; check your own booking, since limits change.

Will the American Tourister Splash be accepted as cabin baggage?

We can't say, and neither the Splash's listing nor American Tourister's page names an airline. Its listed 37 x 24 x 55 cm add up to 116 cm, against the 115 cm total on IndiGo's and Air India's pages, and its 24 cm side is wider than Air India's 20 cm width. Measure it against your airline's own published limit.

Which lightweight cabin bag here weighs the least?

The Safari Sprinter lists 1 kg 500 g, but it is a duffle on 2 in-line wheels. Of the upright cases, the American Tourister Splash lists 2 kg, the Kamiliant Savvy 2 kg 150 g and the American Tourister Liftoff+ 2 kg 200 g.

Is the American Tourister Splash polycarbonate or polypropylene?

The Splash's Amazon.in listing says polycarbonate, but American Tourister's own page for the Splash Cabin says polypropylene. The page shows a different colour, so ask the seller if the material matters to you.

Does a cabin bag warranty here cover damage done by an airline?

Not under American Tourister's and Kamiliant's terms, which cover the Splash, Liftoff+ and Savvy and exclude transport damage, naming airlines as an example; Safari's policy excludes damage from mishandling and abuse in transit. American Tourister's and Kamiliant's terms both say to claim transit damage from the transit company.
